A dissection is a disorder that affects the inner layer of the artery wall and leads to its rupture and separation from the middle layer of the wall. One of the most important causes is high blood pressure, which leads to damage to the artery wall. The patient suffers from sudden pain in the chest or back between the shoulder blades. Diagnosis requires a colored axial tomography of the arteries, and then treatment according to the case. One of the first measures of treatment is to control the high pressure and this may require admission to the intensive care unit. The patient may need to place a mesh coated through the catheter to treat complications.
